ãI know there is an element of griefÒ

August 2025

A short video about solitude (and longing) on a Finnish island.

The main intention of the stay was to explore the ambivalent Neo-Romantic longing for the beauty of
nature and the question of how much civilisation is necessary. The view to the outside is captured
exclusively from the interior. The transition from summer to autumn becomes visible, with different
weather conditions altering the atmosphere inside.

Conclusion: the high number of mosquitoes connects nature and humanity.

The pictures and Sound was taken as Artist in Residency in Koekar during August 2025, Aland Islands.
Footage taken by zapping through the channels: Weather report snippets / finnish Tv channel News
